To have a successful business, we all need clients or customers. Some of these clients might not necessarily be the ideal people you would like to work with. When you start your business, you might feel like you can't be picky or choosy about who you work with. Using a few simple tips and tricks, you can start to understand your ideal clients and attract them to your business.
First, identify who your ideal client is. We call this creating a client avatar. To be able to develop this person, you need first to determine who that person is. Think about their age, gender, relationship status, whether they have children, their profession, income, and any tiny detail you can think of, even down to what type of magazines or online sites they might visit regularly. You might feel like you need to create two or more client avatars, which is fine, but start with one and focus on 2-3 maximum.
Get inside their head
Once you have this ideal person, you need to get inside their head and understand what type of language they use, what they are thinking, feeling and doing, and their frustrations and needs. Being clear on these factors will help you build your brand using the language, colours and feelings that will attract this person to your website and marketing material.
